Why must we buy

Why must we buy

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Toshiba Laptop Battery

Gravy was still warm. Dallas Cowboys were still in uniform. Thanks were still being given across the country as the pilgrimages to the stores began, heralding a new era of American consumerism.

Lured by earlier-than-ever Black Friday sales, people left Grandma and Grandpa in search of Samsung and Toshiba. They did not go blindly: In dozens of interviews, people acknowledged how spending has become inseparable from the holidays. Older folks pined for the days of Erector Sets and Thumbelinas while in line to pay iPad prices. Even some younger shoppers said it felt wrong to be spending money instead of quality time on Thanksgiving.

"But we're still out here," said Kelly Jackson, a paralegal who was standing inside a Best Buy store in the Pittsburgh suburbs, a 32-inch television ($189) in her cart. It was a consolation prize: Despite with battery such as Toshiba PA3191U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3166U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3331U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3098U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3084U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3399U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3250U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3356U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3291U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3591U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3757U-1BRS Battery, Toshiba Qosmio F750 Battery four hours on line, she missed the cheaper 40-inchers ($179) that she had heard about while listening to Internet radio.

Jackson's resignation was common among those who flocked to capitalism's temples for the consumer equivalent of genuflecting. Many said that this Black Friday bled into Thursday crossed a line, that merchants should not intrude like this. Christmas is about the message of Jesus, the feeling went not about the gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Yet amid these protests, people still talked about feeling powerless beneath the moment as if they had no choice but to shop.

"You have to have these things to enjoy your children and your family," said Jackson's friend Ebony Jones, who had secured two laptops ($187.99 each) for her 7 and 11 year olds.

Why must we buy? To demonstrate our love for others? To add a few more inches to our televisions? To help America recover from a vicious recession that itself was born of the desire for more?

Such questions make Jones wince. "It shouldn't be that way, but in a sense there's no way around it," said Jones, a nurse. "Everything ends up with a dollar amount. Even your happiness."

Retailers have long capitalized on the holiday season's perfect storm of emotion and tradition. "We all want to be loved, we all like to give love," says Roger Beahme, director of the Center for Retail Innovation at the Wake Forest Schools of Business. Through a flood of advertising on TV, radio and newspapers, he says, retailers can create emotions.

Fukushima power plant for research

Ever since Microsoft unveiled the Windows RT Surface and its much more PC-like Windows 8 Surface Pro sibling, the big question has been about price. Well, consider the question answered: the Surface Pro will cost $899 for a 64GB version, and $999 for 128GB of storage.

A full ultrabook-level Intel Core i5 processor, 10.6-inch 1,920x1,080-pixel display, 4GB of RAM, and an included Surface Pen are some of the Surface Pro's distinguishing features. Those sexy Touch Covers and Type Covers, both of which are compatible with the Surface Pro, will be sold separately. The real question, of course, will be whether having a full Windows 8 experience on a tablet will be enough to stand out against similar products from other manufacturers, and whether the overall performance will make sense versus a convertible laptop like Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery, Toshiba Satellite A60-662 Battery, Toshiba Satellite A65 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 2100 Battery, Toshiba PA3107U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3383U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3384U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3285U-1BAS Battery, Toshiba PA3905U-1BRS Battery, Toshiba Satellite R850 Battery the Lenovo Yoga.

The Windows RT version of the Surface starts at $499, with an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 32GB of storage. The Surface Pro starts $400 higher, and falls more in line with the prices of full Windows 8 laptops and ultrabooks.

Stay tuned for more when the Surface Pro comes out in January.

It's been over a year and a half since the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, and to this day, humans can't enter the heavily damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant because of high levels of radiation. But robots can.

Toshiba's robot is a camera-equipped quadruped robot that is currently conducting research and the Fukushima plant. That sounds simple enough, but the 143-pound (65kg) robot can perform most of the research needed at the wrecked power station.

The bot uses wireless control so you don't need to be near the robot to drive it, and the dosimeter or camera can locate uneven terrain. The camera, of course, also means that you can spot anything else interesting going on, too.

Found something and what to bring it back for further analysis? This robot can carry up to roughly 44 pounds (20kg). Plus, for hard-to-reach spots it can't get to, it can deploy a "small vehicle" on wheels to go in for a closer look: This Mini Me features the same camera and control mechanism as the main robot.

However, the four-legged bot can only shift at 1 kilometer per hour (that's only about .62 miles per hour), so saying it's slow would be the understatement of the year. Not only that, but it can only walk for around two hours before it complains that its feet are tired and needs a break (or runs out of battery, anyway).

Still, if it means we can find out more about what happened at the Fukushima plant, what will become of it in the future, and what will happen to its immediate surroundings, a robotic helping hand is always welcome.

Speaking of performance

Speaking of performance

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Sony laptop battery

The built in tray-loading DVD burner is a throwback to the now-dying standard, though it will come in handy from time to time if you have a large library of movies or boxed software. Movies looked clear on the laptop's screen, with room filling sound from the Dolby-optimized speakers.

The system comes with an Intel Core i3-processor, six GB of system memory, a 500GB hard drive, and Intel integrated graphics. Until this year, you'd expect to possibly get an Intel Pentium or AMD E-class processor, 2-3GB of memory, and a 320GB hard drive for $499. With this setup, you're unlikely to find many programs online and off the shelf that won't run on the V5-571-6891. 6GB is a nice touch, you'll be able to keep many tabs open in Internet Explorer or Chrome with that much memory. This level of equipment is refreshing, because until recently, netbooks still had problems running programs like light 3D games that require DX10/DX11, netbooks had much lower resolution screens, and many apps ran dog slow on systems with an ultra low voltage 1.5GHz processor like in a netbook. The V5-571-6891 comes with a standard one-year warranty.

Speaking of performance, the V5-571-6891 ran all the benchmark tests. The system isn't a speed demon, but it has enough oomph to make short work of day-to-day tasks. Its PCMark7 score of 2090 points is on par for what we've seen from budget laptops like the Asus U56E-BBL6 (2,255 points), our former budget Editors' Choice laptop. We don't have comparable budget laptop numbers for our new Handbrake 0.9.8 test (1:57) and Photoshop CS6 (8:43) yet, but suffice to say this is a decent baseline number. You can do occasional multimedia tasks on the system, but it's really made for consuming media like online videos and photos, both of which display without a hitch, even 1080p HD videos like the latest Battlestar such as Sony VGP-BPS6 battery, Sony VGP-BPL6 battery, Sony VGN-UX92S battery, Sony VGP-BPL21 battery, Sony VGP-BPS21 battery, Sony VGP-BPS21A battery, Sony VGN-FW90S battery, Sony VGP-BPS13 battery, Sony VGP-BPS13A/B battery, Sony VGN-CS190 battery, Sony VGP-BPL13 battery Galactica: Blood and Chrome webisodes. Its 3D gaming is understandably weak, though the system comes with Intel HD Graphics 4000 instead of the base 2500 version, so you'll get a little better performance than you'd expect. High-end games are out of the question, but lighter fare like World of Warcraft or Torchlight is easily in the system's capabilities.

The V5-571-6891 comes with a removable 4-cell battery, which is good for a somewhat anemic four-hour battery life (4:07) on our video rundown test. This is significantly less than Acer's five-hour battery life claims, but the battery life is sufficient for a movie plus a bunch of Web surfing around the house. If you're buying the V5-571-6891 for home use or even students that may forget their power adapter in their dorm room, four hours battery life is enough, as you wouldn't be straying from a power plug for too long. Of course, the battery won't last you a cross-continental airline flight, so this system is less suitable for road warriors. If you are one of these type of users, it would be best to upgrade to a higher-capacity battery or look for a system that will last a little longer like the Dell XPS 12, or the Acer Aspire S3-391-6046, both of which last about five hours on the same rundown test. Tablets running Windows RT like the Asus Vivo Tab RT last even longer: almost ten hours.

The Acer Aspire V5-571-6891 is an interesting beast. It has everything you'd want in a $500 laptop, minus a long battery life. Its pricing recalls the netbooks of 2008-2011, but it's so much more powerful than any of those, with a much larger screen. The budget Toshiba Satellite C655-S5542 is less expensive than the V5-571-6891 by $99, but you give up USB 3.0, HDMI, 3GB of memory, and quite a bit of performance due to a Celeron processor. For $500, it's surprising to find a latest-generation Intel Core processor, 4 to 6GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, large screen, and a full keyboard and Windows-8 compliant trackpad It balances its thinness and large screen well, to the point that it is quite portable around the house or campus. It's a lot more modern than the Asus U56E-BBL6, which uses a second-generation Intel Core processor, is bigger and heavier, and doesn't come with Windows 8. The Acer Aspire V5-571-6891 meets the requirements for the basic user, with extra flourishes like a numeric keypad, good sound, and exceeds expectations for a budget laptop. Therefore we award the V5-571-6891 our Editors' Choice for budget laptops.

Final Review battery

Final Review battery

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Sony laptop battery

The influx of ultrabook and tablet convertibles inspired by Windows 8 means more than enhanced functionality for consumers; it also means the likelihood of buying and toting around less devices. On paper, Dell's XPS 12 indeed offers the best of both worlds for media-loving consumers and business professionals. Does it deliver in the day-to-day reality?

An excellent build quality and stylish design is the first thing you'll notice about the XPS 12 (models begin at $1199 US). The chassis is made from machined aluminum, and the entire rim of the device (including the flip hinge) is composed of anodized aluminum. This combination lends the XPS 12 a wholly professional and sleek appearance. Every inch of this hardware looks – and especially feels — premium. The matte finish lends a soft touch and makes the unit comfortable to hold.

The hook of Dell's XPS 12 hybrid design is the rotating display, which pushes out and rotates 180 degrees to fold over the keyboard and collapse into tablet mode. There's a pronounced, very satisfying click when pushing the screen out of its magnetic anchor, and you may find yourself idly flipping it in and out just to hear it. (Do you doodle or keep your fingers occupied while you're on the phone? This may be a new fixation!)

Housing the display is a frame that instills a lot of confidence. It feels durable and sturdy, and while Dell has QA tested it for 20,000 use cycles, I see no reason to fear it breaking from heavy usage.

The XPS 12 is the fastest-booting machine I've used recently, cold booting (from power off to desktop) in a blistering 7 seconds. A 256GB Samsung solid-state drive, 8GB of 1600 MHz RAM and an Intel Core i7-3517U certainly bolster its speed, but lower-end XPS 12 models should experience roughly the same boot time.

Likewise, the system wakes from standby almost instantly and keeps a low power consumption profile while sleeping. Dell thoughtfully includes nested tips about battery like Sony VGP-BPS10 battery, Sony VGN-FZ battery, Sony VGP-BPS8A battery, Sony VGP-BPS19 battery, Sony VGP-BPL19 battery, Sony VGP-BPS20 battery, Sony VGP-BPS20/B battery, Sony VGP-BPS20/S battery, Sony VGP-BPS12 battery, Sony VGP-BPL12 battery, Sony VGN-Z21XN battery conservation as well, and it all amounts to a pleasant, snappy, and productive environment.

Another nice nod to new Windows 8 users is the inclusion of several tutorial videos on the Modern UI Start screen explaining the user interface, navigating the Windows Store, using Charms and gestures, and much more.

As we expect from ultrabooks, the XPS 12 has a bright (400 nits) and crisp full HD WLED 12" display with 1920×1080 resolution and 10-point multitouch support. (Random aside: Will we ever need all ten digits on a touchscreen at once?) Whites are pure, blacks are deep, and overall color is vibrant. I mention this because if you view the XPS 12 as a tablet, its screen quality is vastly superior to products like the ASUS ViVo Tab RT, Microsoft Surface – anything other than 3rd or 4th generation iPads. It also packs more pixels than Lenovo's ThinkPad YOGA convertible (a competing product which I'll be reviewing soon).

Acer Aspire 5750G

Acer Aspire 5750G

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Acer Laptop Battery

The Acer Aspire 5750G (AS5750G-2414G50Mnkk) is a 15.6in laptop designed for home use and it represents good value for money. It runs a Second Generation Intel Core i5 CPU, a discrete graphics adapter and battery such as Acer CGR-B/6G8AW battery, Acer CGR-B/350AW battery, Acer Ferrari 1005 battery, Acer Extensa 5620G battery, Acer TravelMate 7720 battery, Acer BTP-BCA1 battery, Acer Aspire 5670 battery, Acer TravelMate 7510 battery, Acer Aspire 9420 battery, Acer Aspire One D210 battery, Acer Aspire One ZG5 battery, Acer Aspire One 571 battery, and it has a design that mostly looks good and feels comfortable to use. Its keys and touchpad could be a little better, and we're not fans of the glossy screen and bezel, but apart from those little quibbles we enjoyed using it.

The Aspire 5750G weighs around 2.5kg and it feels noticeably lighter than many other 15.6in units that we've tested this year. Its build quality is fair, although there is plenty of flex in its lid and in the palmrest when force is applied. The keyboard bounces a little, but it doesn't make typing difficult. In fact, the full-sized keys have good travel. We like the inclusion of a regulation number pad and the arrow keys are easy to distinguish by feel. What we don't like is the smoothness of the flat keys. They don't have much texture, which sometimes caused our fingers to slip onto adjoining keys and create typos; but we got used to it after a while (the keyboard, that is, not the typos).

The touchpad is 87x45mm and it feels smooth, but its responsiveness was sometimes poor. It wasn't great at recognising gestures and many times we had to repeat a scrolling or flicking gesture before it was performed correctly. A vertical line is moulded on the right side of the pad to aid single-finger scrolling and this worked fine in our tests.

Around its edges, the Aspire 5750G houses a standard set of features for a modern 15.6in laptop: a DVD burner, an SD card slot, three USB ports (one is a USB 3.0 port), Gigabit Ethernet (a Broadcom NetLink adapter), HDMI, VGA, and headphone and microphone ports. It also has a webcam and 802.11n Wi-Fi (an Atheros AR5B97 adapter), but it lacks Bluetooth. Its Wi-Fi adapter wasn't great in our tests, and only managed to connect to our 802.11n-based wireless networks at 54Mbps.

On the inside, the Aspire contains a Second Generation Intel Core i5-2410M CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive (5400rpm) and an NVIDIA GeForce 520M graphics adapter. This configuration performed well in our tests, recording a time of 44sec in Blender 3D and 52sec in iTunes. It converted a DVD file to an Xvid file in 52min, which is a good result. Its 3DMark06 score of 5323 is adequate, but it's not as fast as the previous Aspire we reviewed, the 5742G, which used a GeForce 420M graphics adapter and recorded a more respectable 6862, but it was $200 more expensive, too.

Look at our performance chart to see how the Aspire 5750G compares against other laptops we've reviewed this year.

The Aspire 5750G runs NVIDIA's Optimus graphics technology, which allows it to switch automatically between the discrete GeForce 520M adapter or the built-in Intel HD 3000 graphics of the CPU — and it worked properly for once! The performance difference between the Intel and NVIDIA adapters in 3DMark06 is just over 50 percent (3436 for the Intel adapter and 5323 for the NVIDIA) and it supplies a little extra kick for gaming. However, you shouldn't buy this laptop thinking you are getting a gaming machine, unless you are content playing at low resolution and detail levels. It won't be able to run 3D shooters smoothly, even at low detail levels, but it will be fine for games such as WoW, Dirt2 (or Dirt3) and StarCraft2.

While the advantage of the discrete graphics card over the CPU graphics isn't great, it does provide versatility. You can run the slightly more powerful graphics while using the notebook at home near a power outlet and you can run the inbuilt graphics while using the laptop on the road. In our battery rundown test, in which we disable power management, enable Wi-Fi, maximise brightness and loop an Xvid-encoded video, it lasted 3hr 35min, which is a little above the average for a 15.6in laptop with a Core i5 CPU.

Basically, what you get in the Aspire 5750G is a nicely designed laptop with good performance and battery life that won't cost you too much money. It retails for $999, but if you shop around you should be able to find it between $800 and $900. We just wish the performance between the integrated and discrete graphics cards was greater, that its screen wasn't so glossy, that its touchpad was more responsive and that its keys had a little more texture.

Aspire Gemstone Blue

Aspire Gemstone Blue
Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Acer Laptop Battery
The Gemstone Blue is large and useful, both as a desktop computer with batteries like Acer UM09A71 battery, Acer UM09A75 battery, Acer Aspire One 751 battery, Acer Aspire One 531 battery, Acer AS07A72 battery, Acer AS07A31 battery, Acer Aspire 2930 battery, Acer Aspire 4920 battery, Acer UM09H56 battery, Acer UM09H75 battery, Acer UM09H36 battery, Acer Aspire One 532G battery and a media centre. It sports a 16:9 widescreen LCD, as well as a Blu-ray drive and HDMI, so it's primed for high-definition content playback. In fact, the Gemstone Blue is an entire home theatre in one device.
With its 18.4in screen, which has a native resolution of 1920x1080, and its six built-in speakers, the Gemstone can be placed on a coffee table while you (or even you and a couple of mates) sit on the couch watching the latest flicks or TV shows. It has good contrast, although you need to get its angle just right, and reflections can be a problem due to its glossy screen. The blue LEDs for the power button might also be a distraction, and there is no way to dim or disable them.
The speakers provide surround sound, and they provide good all-round frequency response once you disable the filters in the audio driver's configuration. In movies, explosions and environmental sounds will still take precedence over voice, so plugging the notebook in to an external receiver is still recommended — for this, it has S/PDIF output.
A built-in digital TV tuner allows the notebook to be used for watching, time-shifting and recording TV programs. It found all the local stations in our area without any problems and playback was smooth for standard- and high-definition channels. It has a long recording time thanks to the installed 320GB hard drive, which is formatted into two equal partitions. The Gemstone Blue's chassis also has space (and a Serial ATA connector) for a second hard drive, so you could equip it with up to 640GB of internal storage.
If you want to watch movies on a big-screen TV, you can use the Gemstone's HDMI output port. However, how good it looks will depend on the scaling ability of your TV as the notebook's NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS graphics adapter can't be used to scale the desktop so that it fits perfectly on your TV. There is a D-Sub port if you want to connect the notebook to a monitor without HDMI, but S-Video is not present.
Acer ships the Gemstone Blue with Windows Vista Home Premium and its Media Centre component can be used to display your media files and movies. Acer also provides Acer Arcade Deluxe interface for accessing your files. You can control both Media Centre and Arcade Deluxe by using the built-in, backlit touch-panel (Acer calls it the CineDash Media Console) that resides to the left of the full-sized keyboard; or you can use the supplied remote control. The touch-panel is an odd inclusion, as the remote control is more convenient to use.
For running productivity programs, the Gemstone Blue is perfect. Its Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 and 3GB of RAM propelled it to a score of 96 in WorldBench 6, which means you can do a little bit of everything with this notebook. Its big screen is suitable for editing photos and there is plenty of space to line up two windows side-by-side for comfortable multitasking. The notebook will also be swift when ripping CDs; it only took 1min 12sec to convert 53min worth of WAV files to 192Kbps MP3 files in our tests. This is a fast result.
The Gemstone Blue's score of 3163 in 3DMark06 indicates that you can also play games on this system with relative ease, but not at high resolutions and not with high image-detail enabled.
Physically, the notebook is 44.5cm wide and weighs 4.1kg. It's not one that you would want to carry around with you — even if you have a big enough bag to fit it in — but its size does make it comfortable to use as a desktop replacement. When it's not plugged in, the eight-cell battery will last about 1hr 47min in a worst-case scenario (watching a movie), but much longer if you enable power management.
The Gemstone Blue ships with a lot of useful features: it has a built-in webcam, four USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 draft-N wireless networking, an SD memory card slot and an ExpressCard/54 slot. You also get a VoIP handset, which connects to the notebook using Bluetooth. Unfortunately, it doesn't have FireWire, but it does have an unnecessary modem jack.

HP's Envy Spectre XT on the whole is a good overall ultrabook but the problem is that it doesn't really stand out in a very crowded market especially with the Premium Envy name. Performance is good and the build quality is better than average. HP does manage to include dual band Wi-Fi and a gigabit Ethernet for networking which is nice at this price point but not unusual. The problem is that there are enough smaller issues that make it just an average system. This is especially annoying when it comes to the storage space which while already limited from the 128GB SSD is even smaller due to the large recovery partition.

The overall design of the Envy Spectre XT can be considered a cross between the Envy Spectre with its high quality materials and workmanship with more affordable elements taken from the lower cost Folio 13. It still has aluminum clad lid and deck but uses a soft touch base that has the look of metal but the feel more of plastic. It is certainly much lighter than the larger Envy Spectre or the Folio 13 with battery like Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS22 battery, Sony VGP-BPL22 battery but it still tops the scales at over three pounds which is a bit disappointing as much of the competition is now lighter.

Powering the HP Envy Spectre XT 13t is the new Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3317U dual core processor. The processor is matched up with 4GB of DDR3 memory which is typical for the ultrabook category. This provides it with a smooth overall experience in most applications but it does fall short of what more traditional laptops can achieve. For instance, it can be used for desktop video editing but it will just be slower when compared with a larger, more powerful laptop computer.

For the storage on the Envy Spectre XT, HP decided to use the solid state drive rather than using a more affordable hybrid solution that is typical of many of the new more affordable ultrabooks. The standard configuration offers up 128GB of storage space for applications, data and media files. Note that there is a good portion of this space allocated to a restore partition so you will have much less total storage space. Some users that want this as their primary computer may want to look into getting a 256GB version but this does add to the cost of the laptop. Performance from the drive is very quick with boot times range around 15 seconds which is quick but not as fast as the MacBook Air 13 or the Aspire S5 with its dual SSD drives. If you do need additional space, there is a single USB 3.0 port for use with high speed external storage drives. It would have been nice to see both of the USB ports use the new superspeed rather than one new and one slower port.

While HP offered a higher resolution display with the Envy Spectre and its 14-inch display, the Envy Spectre XT uses a more traditional 13.3-inch display and 1366x768 native resolution. The display is certainly brighter than the dismal Folio 13 display it still has rather plain color and brightness levels. Then again, this is a more mainstream than premium ultrabook so its not going to have a display as stunning as the high resolution ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A. Like all ultrabooks, it uses the Intel HD Graphics 4000 that is built into the processor. This is fine for most basic work but still lacks much 3D performance for even casual gaming other than older titles at lower resolution and detail levels. What it does offer though is the ability to accelerate media encoding when using Quick Sync compatible applications.

One feature that is directly lifted from the HP Folio 13 is the backlit keyboard. This is a standard isolated key design that offers a very comfortable and accurate experience. The trackpad thankfully is not the same as the Folio as that one had major issues. The trackpad does feel a bit small compared to some other ultrabooks and it does use integrated buttons. Many of the issues from the earlier models have been corrected such that multitouch gestures work better and right and left clicks are more accurate. HP did recess the trackpad slightly to help prevent accidental bumps from wrists while typing.

HP Pavilion dv4-4270us 14

HP Pavilion dv4-4270us 14

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Compaq Laptop Battery

Apr 5 2012 - While the list price of the HP Pavilion dv4-4270is is over $600, it is easy to fine this system for under $600. At this price point, it offers a good deal of portability compared to the competition thanks to the 14-inch screen but it doesn't sacrifice much to achieve this. The laptop offers more memory, hard drive space and longer battery life than many similarly priced systems. The only real downsides are the lack of new high speed peripheral ports and a keyboard layout that is a bit different and lacks a numeric keypad.

The average budget class laptops tends to feature a 15-inch display panel and weigh roughly 5.7 pounds. HP with battery such as Hp HSTNN-OB45 battery, Hp HSTNN-XB45 battery, Hp Pavilion DV7 battery, Hp 464059-121 battery, Hp HSTNN-C50C battery, Hp EliteBook 8530P battery, Hp HSTNN-LB60 battery, Hp HSTNN-OB60 battery, Hp EliteBook 8730W battery, HP Compaq Armada M300 Battery, HP 493976-001 Battery, HP HSTNN-FB40 Battery is one of several companies that offer a 14-inch laptop for those looking for something a bit more compact without sacrificing the features. The Pavilion dv4-4270us is a decent laptop in terms of performance thanks to the slightly faster Intel Core i3-2350M dual core mobile processor it is based around. What makes the system a bit better than most in the $600 price range is the 6GB of DDR3 memory. This allows the system to run a bit smoother with the Windows 7 operating system when multitasking.

One of the nicer aspects of the HP Pavilion dv4-4270us is the inclusion of a 640GB hard drive. This provides roughly thirty percent more storage space than the average 500GB drive found in other laptops in this price range. This can be very beneficial for those that like to store a large amount of media files on their laptop. The drive does spin at the traditional 5400rpm spin rate which means that performance is a bit more modest than systems that use 7200rpm drives but that is fairly uncommon in this price segment. One big downside with laptops in this price range including the HP Pavilion dv4 is the ability to use high speed external storage. The system features just three USB ports but they are all of the older 2.0 rather than the new USB 3.0 speeds.

In order to keep the system more compact, the Pavilion dv4 is based around a 14-inch display panel rather than the more typical 15.6-inch panel. It still features the same 1366x768 native resolution as the larger screens which means that text is actually a bit sharper than the larger screens. The panel itself still suffers the same level of limited viewing angles, color and reflections that the average budget system with a TN panel comes equipped with. The graphics are driven by the standard Intel HD Graphics 3000 that are built into the Core i3 processor. This is fine for most people as long as you aren't looking to use the laptop for some casual 3D gaming. The graphics do support accelerated media encoding when used with QuickSync enabled applications.

Even with its slightly smaller size, HP didn't skimp on the battery to try and keep the costs and weight down. It comes equipped with a six cell battery pack that features a 55WHr capacity rating. This is roughly twenty percent larger than the 48WHr packs used in most similarly priced laptops. In DVD playback testing, this results in just under three hours of running time before the system went into standby mode. More typical usage should yield just over four hours of running time. The closest budget laptop with similar running times is the ASUS K53E.

A small downside of the smaller size of the HP Pavilion dv4 is the keyboard. Most 15-inch keyboards include a numeric keypad. In order to reduce the width of the system while keeping the keys a reasonable size, HP had to remove the numeric keypad. This isn't a huge issue for many uses but it is something to consider for those that do need to do frequent number input. They did include the home keys to the right side of the keyboard which can make using the backspace, enter and right shift keys a bit more challenging.

An in-flight communication and customer relationship management device first introduced by Emirates for its pursers in 2004, the KIS application will now run on the soon-to-be-launched HP ElitePad 900 business tablets and will enable Emirates to continue to deliver extraordinary customer service and experiences.

"At Emirates, we strive to deliver the world's best in-flight experience," said Khalid Bel Jaflah, Vice President for East Africa Region. "We constantly invest in the best aircraft, products and service. To support our crew, we have created an application on Windows 8 that delivers a unique, personalized experience with the necessary information for our cabin crew to better serve the needs of customers. The Windows 8 platform running on HP ElitePad 900 devices gave us this option, allowing us to create the KIS app that enables our crew to offer an experience not available on other airlines."

Pursers on the flight use the KIS application to brief the cabin crew before every flight and understand how to best meet the personal preferences and needs of passengers. The crew can also use the application to easily conduct in-flight upgrades to business class or first class for Emirates Skywards members, as well as customer feedback that is immediately routed to headquarters upon landing.

As the first global customer of the HP ElitePad 900, Emirates is creating a new KIS tablet that is light, attractive and has a long battery like Hp nx6110 Battery, Hp nx6125 Battery, Hp nx8200 Battery, Hp nx8220 Battery, Hp OmniBook 6000 Battery, Hp Omnibook XE3 Battery, Hp Pavilion DV1000 Battery, Hp Pavilion DV1600 Battery, Hp Pavilion dv2000 Battery, Hp Pavilion DV4000 Battery, Hp Pavilion DV5000 Battery, Hp Pavilion dv6000 Battery life, ideal for nonstop flights. The device, announced by HP in October and available to customers in January 2013, is built specifically for business users, offering Windows 8 optimization and a beautiful lightweight design. Combined with Windows 8's touch-optimized user interface, which quickly shows the most important information via Live Tiles, the crew can spend more time interacting with customers in a unique and efficient way.

The Macintosh Portable was Apple's first battery-powered portable computer. Released in 1989, it weighed 16lbs., had a 16MHz CPU, a black and white screen and lead-acid batteries, hence its nickname, "Macintosh Luggable." People had to pay $6,500 for the curse of owning this darned thing. Which is why I find this hack to be so funny.

Yes, that Macintosh Portable has a color screen and is running Mac OS X. Patrick Blampied used the hardware from his old Toshiba NB100 netbook to make this modern miracle possible. In other words, it's a Hackintosh. Blampied also painstakingly rewired and soldered a Dell keyboard to a USB controller for this project. The classic Apple mouse has an optical mouse in its guts, though it still only has one button. Finally, in place of the lead-acid batteries Blampied put the battery from a cordless drill.

The only thing this computer has over Apple's current lineup is that sweet rainbow logo. Blampied said he'll upload more pictures and information about his hack on his blog.

Current Motor's SuperScooter

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Hp Laptop Battery

Second, and this is part of the Dell contribution, it has a tablet as a display and this device is equipped with a WAN connection with a specially coded cell phone app. Meaning, if you are having a problem Current Motors can remotely diagnose it. Plus, you can monitor the bike on your phone and the display will run apps like trip planning and GPS software.

the battery such as Hp F4486A Battery, HP Pavilion ZV6000 Battery, HP PP2200 Battery, HP PP2210 Battery, Hp n6400 Battery, Hp n6402 Battery, Hp NC6105 Battery, Hp nw8440 Battery, Hp nw9440 Battery, Hp nx5100 Battery, Hp NX6105 Battery, Hp NX6110 Battery for storage (there is a breaker for this). Otherwise it activates when you get close to the bike or use the key to activate the vehicle.

The bike is just fine if you are just looking for something to get you to work or school and live in an area like the west where the weather is generally good and your commute is under 30 miles and doesn't involve much freeway.

In fact, this likely would have been a safer choice while I was in high school and college than the motorcycles I owned at the time and far better in weather. If you can figure out how to get a power cord to it, it is ideal for cities where you typically drive under 15 miles but have to navigate in heavy traffic. Scooters can get through areas where cars can't and electric vehicles love stop and go driving. Many think they are the future of in-city transportation.

recommended because, at least in California no one drives 55 - making the 58 top speed of the base bike too slow. Being a freeway speed bump isn't that much fun and their more expensive configuration tops out closer to 70, all while boasting far more range.

If you are looking for something to go long distances, I would definitely say that electric isn't an option, at least not yet. And while you can buy performance motorcycles that are electric they are typically very expensive, far more exposed, and generally a very poor value against performance gas bikes. If you want to race you can't beat gas, but for quiet, cheap, reliable day to day short hops electric is a very pleasant option.

While this scooter isn't as cool as a bike, it is infinitely more cool than a Vespa (it is decent size) and it even has reverse so you don't look stupid when you try to walk it back out of a parking spot up hill (try that on your typical bike or scooter and you'll know why folks who ride make sure they park with their bikes pointed up-hill.

Current is replacing this bike with the performance version in a few days. For now, while the weather holds, look for my Cheshire grin in while I drive by gas stations this weekend. I find I'm enjoying that drive more and more.

Oh, and one final thought. Existing electric bike designs are typically based on their gas predecessors simply because we like to see familiar shapes. But given the actual motor is in the wheel hub and the battery can be custom designed, so you could build some truly wild things (Like this prototype from BMW or even this wilder one from BSG). I can hardly wait!

EnlargeMetabones impressed us in January of this year, when they announced an adapter that would allow Canon lenses to work with electronic aperture control on Sony NEX bodies. Their newest product goes a step beyond that, achieving the pinnacle of the adapter mount: autofocus. They claim Canon AF lenses will work with the Smart Adapter II for Sony NEX bodies.

The Metabones adapter will take Canon EF and EF-S lenses from 2006 or later, and marry them with your Sony NEX for full autofocus functionality. The big question is how that changes the autofocus speed of the lens, seeing as it's using a completely different focusing system than it was designed for. In the new product announcement, Metabones said:

Autofocus speed is significantly slower than on a DSLR camera. Phase detection feature of NEX-5R/6 is not used at this time. As a result, autofocus speed of a Canon EF/EF-S lens on Sony NEX is usually slower than on the new Canon EOS M. Compared with Sony's own A-mount lens adapters, Metabones Smart Adapter II is faster than LA-EA1 but slower than the translucent-mirror-equipped LA-EA2.

Older Canon lenses and third party versions won't work for AF, but will still have aperture control, image stabilization, and EXIF data.

inShare. HP is selling the Pavilion DM1-4341sa laptop for £279, but you can get a 12 per cent discount using the code 12OFFAFF to bring the price down to £245.52. This makes it the cheapest Windows 8 laptop we've seen.

The laptop comes with a dual-core AMD E2-1800 processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 1MB L2 cache, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive, a 11.6in BrightView LED-backlit display with a 1,366 x 768 display, an AMD Radeon HD 7340 GPU, Wi-Fi, a HD webcam, an Ethernet port and a card reader.

In addition, it packs Beats Audio technology, an island-style keyboard, a 6-cell battery like Hp Compaq 520 battery, Hp HSTNN-IB39 battery, Hp 438518-001 battery, Hp HSTNN-OB84 battery, Hp Compaq Presario CQ20 battery, Hp 482372-322 battery, Hp HSTNN-XB59 battery, Hp HSTNN-XB69 battery, Hp EliteBook 6930p battery, HP ProBook 6550b Battery, HP Compaq 2710 Battery, HP EliteBook 2730p Battery, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, VGA, HDMI connectors, Bluetooth, plus HP's Soft-touch Imprint technology that offers a "superfine, smooth finish" in ash black with a pinwheel pattern.

The laptop weighs a mere 1.6kg and is 32mm thick, which is odd given that it has a small display and doesn't come with an optical drive.

HP has also included a Universal Music Package that allows customers to win "Money can't buy" experiences and VIP concert tickets, as well as free unlimited streaming of the Universal Music Catalogue.

Unique to both the F55 and F5 will be the ability to dual record in a number of different configurations depending upon codec selection and whether using the optional AXS-R5 RAW recorder. Combinations will include recording in parallel to a single SxSPro+ card, to both SxS slots with the same or different codecs, and recording to SxS at the same time as to the AXS-R5 in RAW. These powerful features enable highly efficient off line, on line workflows and the archiving and repurposing of the RAW data.

The F55 and F5 cameras continue Sony's efforts to offer the most flexible lens options. PLmount prime cine lens technology lets users choose cine optics from Angénieux, Canon, Carl Zeiss, Cooke, FUJIFILM, Leica, Schneider Optics and others.

Representing Sony's second generation of cost-effective PL mount prime lenses, each is certified for 4K capture, and designed to minimize geometric distortion, vignetting and breathing. A nine-blade iris delivers beautiful bokehs and the focus rings rotate 240 degrees. The new lens series includes focal lengths of 20, 25, 35, 50, 85 and 135 mm. For easy lens changes, each has the same T2.0 aperture, the same external diameter, matte box diameter, and gear locations for follow focus and aperture. All are the same height except for the 135 mm lens.

An Advanced Look at Chevy's 134

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Compaq Laptop Battery

The battery pack should store 20 kWh of juice, giving the Spark EV a range of roughly 60 to 70 real-world miles. Its sibling, the Volt—a car from which the Spark EV's engineers borrowed liberally—is good for 40 or so miles, while the Nissan Leaf averaged 58 miles in our testing.

Plugged in to a 240-volt charger, the Spark would need about seven hours to go from drained to a full charge. That's adequate, but the real pot of gold is the optional DC fast charging; it'll enable an 80-percent recharge (from a completely dead car) in just 20 minutes. Since most people don't coast their EVs up to charging stations on empty, that time is cut significantly if the battery still has 20 or 30 percent of charge left. That might still be too annoying to drive from New York to Washington, D.C., but it's more than enough to use a Spark EV as a regional runabout. An engineer for the car says there's no technological limit on the number or frequency of recharges.

For the parts you can see, the Spark EV looks rather similar to a conventional Spark. There are a few minor cosmetic changes, almost entirely made in the name of aerodynamics: There's a rear spoiler, underbody air management, active grille shutters, and smoother front and rear fasciae. A keen eye could spot wider rear tires. The interior isn't much different either, which switches for a few more features and a standard infotainment system, but there's no difference in volume or space, and no bulges in the rear floor.

Under the skin, though, things are very different. All told, the battery such as Hp KU532AA battery, Hp HSTNN-OB62 battery, Hp Compaq 610 battery, Hp Compaq 510 battery, Hp RW557AA battery, Hp 440266-ABC battery, Hp ProBook 5310m battery, Hp BQ352AA battery, Hp AT907AA battery, HP Compaq 540 Battery, HP 572189-001 Battery, HP HSTNN-DB51 Battery pack adds about 560 pounds to the Spark, requiring accommodation not just for the space it takes up but the weight it adds to the rear. As a result, the Spark's entire suspension has been redone, with different springs and damping up front and a major redesign in the rear to accommodate for the battery pack, featuring a new rear axle and torsion beam. Considering electric motors and systems put out higher-frequency sounds than gasoline engines, different isolation is used.

The Spark EV isn't meant to be a high-end car, so it won't be absurdly loaded, but it will carry a solid complement of features. Automatic headlights and heated front seats are standard, as is the normally optional—and very good—touch-screen media system, which in essence just displays apps from your smartphone. GM and OnStar are rolling out several smartphone apps for the Spark EV, too, for tracking energy use, paying for charging at public stations, and scheduling home charging.

Not yet and not yet. GM is looking to be competitive with other pure EVs on pricing, and we're guessing an MSRP in the high $20,000s—and that's before the $7500 federal tax credit. The availability is the bigger concern. General Motors is insistent that the Spark EV isn't being built just to satisfy the government, as are some other vehicles—those would be the Fiat 500E and Scion iQ EV, among others—but so far, sales are only planned for California and South Korea, where the Spark is assembled. We do expect to see 50-state sales for the Spark EV eventually, though, and GM will be offering an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery pack.

HP laptop contract

HP laptop contract

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Compaq Laptop Battery

BOISE – We've had our first up close look at the laptop agreement between the state and Hewlett-Packard. The laptops seem to be the most controversial part of Proposition 3, an issue on the ballot come Election Day.

There are over 360 pages in the contract, outlining the nearly $182 million agreement. There's a lot to go through in the Students Come First Mobile Computing Initiative.

Eight pages in, we found the buyout agreement. If the voters decide not to pass this initiative, the contract just goes away. But if it passes and the state later decides to cancel it, there's a buyout clause. Part of the nearly $182 million budgeted for the eight-year contract includes the $14 million for buyout.

Something else of note, after four years HP can request to adjust the price no more than four percent, as long as HP can provide justification.

The cost of the laptops, maintenance, training, wireless, essentially everything to make this program work, is $292.77 per device. Here's a breakdown of what it will cost for the eight year contract.

The cost goes up as the program spreads from just teachers and administrators in the first year to one third of the high school students in year two. For the first five years, the contract is 17 percent higher than the estimate the State Department of Education gave the Legislature in 2011.

Luna's office initially said the cost of the laptops and wireless capabilities in the schools would be $70.8 million for the first five years. The actual budget is $82.9 million.

Luna has secured $2.5 million for the first year of the project, and has requested $10.9 million more for the second year. The remaining years have not yet been budgeted, but again, in 2011, the Legislature was planning on a $70.8 million budget for the first five years of the project.

HP says the 4440s laptop either meet or exceed all of the requirements the state requested. With 7.5 hours of battery like Hp 572032-001 battery, Hp HSTNN-OB88 battery, Hp HSTNN-XB88 battery, Hp HSTNN-DB91 battery, Hp AT902AA battery, Hp ProBook 4310s battery, Hp AT901AA battery, Hp 579027-001 battery, Hp Mini 5102 battery, HP GJ655AA Battery, HP HSTNN-IB52 Battery, HP HSTNN-IB51 Battery life, the computer should last the entire school day. Just in case it doesn't, HP will provide schools with charging stations to make sure students have power to their laptops.

There's also an option for districts to buy a laptop after four years. That price is $35 per device. The district then can either resell them or use them in other schools, it's their choice.

While there's a lot in this contract - it doesn't include every detail. There are still some minor details that need to be worked out in the next two months, things like how computers will be delivered to schools across the state.

There were five companies that responded to the state's request for proposal, Ace Computers, Dell, Lenovo, Apple and HP. The state Department of Purchasing says HP was the lowest bidder and the company that fit all of the state's

Apple's decision made sense

Apple's decision made sense

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Compaq Laptop Battery

November 11, 2012 4:37 PM (PST) Like Link Flag 1) Why the 1024x768 resolution? To keep it compatible with existing ipad2 apps. This way, I get all my existing designed-for-ipad apps like tapatalk and educreations right off the bat, rather than having to contend to with blown-up iphone apps or windowed ipad2 apps. Making it 2056x1536 would far exceed the normal 'retina' threshold for its size, resulting in excessive battery drain and bottlenecked processors. If they had simply gone with a 3rd resolution, it would result in the same fragmentation issue again.

To my knowledge, there is still a dearth of android tablet apps, so the user experience is already different out of the box.

2) Apple hardware typically commands a higher margin because some of that profit goes towards supporting / subsidising its software side. Buying an ipad mini means getting access to features such as iCloud and iMessage, plus all my existing paid iOS with battery like Compaq Presario 700 Battery, Compaq Presario 900 Battery, Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery, Compaq EVO N100 battery, Compaq Evo N1020V battery, Compaq Evo N1000C battery, Compaq Evo N115 battery, Hp 593572-001 battery, Hp BQ350AA battery, Hp ProBook 4720s battery, Hp ProBook 4520s battery apps and iTunes content carry over FOC. If you already have a substantial collection, your initial downpayment would have more than paid for itself.

Google can afford to subsidise their hardware because they earn from advertising side, so it is really more of a hobby to them, rather than a main source of revenue.

Lack of ports like USB. To me, it's more of a personal preference. I already don't really use external storage devices on my computers, so there is even less incentive for me to want to plug a flashdrive to my tablet to copy/transfer files over. I have airplay, so that is one less need for a vga or hdmi slot. In return, I get a thinner and more aesthetically pleasing form factor.

Crap specs. Are people still playing the spec card at this time and age? It is no small secret that android devices tend to sport faster processors and more ram not due to any magnanimity on the manufacturer's part, but because Android is that resource-hungry. Even today, the ipad2 remains a very capable piece of hardware, because developers take care to match their apps' performance to the ipad's specs, and IOS is very resource-efficient, so there is no reason why the ipad mini won't be either.

To me, Apple's decision made sense. Not that it was necessarily the best decision, but there were constraints and tradeoff, and ultimately, I believe Apple made the best they could given those limitations. To simply conclude that Apple screwed up without considering these issues is simply making too hasty and superficial a judgement, IMO.

Correct, they had to go with the ipad 2 resolution because of their limited range of resolution options. But it was because of the profit margin that kept them from using a retina display. It is not coincidence that stories are popping up already about a retina version. It is possible now, but if they can't make an insane profit margin on it, then they don't want to do it.

That is not true. They make money off of advertising just like Google does on Android. The difference is that Google isn't looking to be the richest company in the world. Apple is. The advertising and app development fees more than pay for the software side for Apple. The high margins for hardware are purely to get richer. That whole initial down payment talk also did not make any sense.

This all plays into what apple wants you do to. Spend more money. I would definitely prefer to have my tablet be a few millimeters thicker in order to use a $5 HDMI cable or a $15 miracast dongle or ,for televisions that support miracast, not pay anything at all to stream video vs paying $99 for an apple tv in order to stream to my TV.

The reason Android devices require higher specs is because it can do much more than an ipad. I had an ipad for a month and having to switch from true multitasking and widgets to a screen full of icons and constant background pausing in order to keep the smoothness of my current app was maddening. ipads are consumption devices and not true productivity devices.

They did screw up, but there should be no "understanding" of their decisions. This is, as the phrase does, part of the "apple distortion field". The ipad mini is just an inferior device, but it is all that apple users have to "choose" from if they want to go smaller. And that is a shame.

November 10, 2012 9:28 PM (PST) Like (3) Link Flag 1. Yes, Apple probably could've included a Retina display. But I doubt they'd be able to make it as thin and efficient. I love the fact that it doesn't take forever to charge up the battery, which is something I hated about the iPad 3. The Nexus 10 can't even charge up while it's being used thanx to its battery such as Compaq Armada M700 Battery, Compaq EVO N400c Battery, Compaq EVO N410c Battery, Compaq EVO N600C Battery, Compaq EVO N610C Battery, Compaq EVO N620C Battery, Compaq Presario 1200 Battery, Compaq Presario 1800 Battery, Hp Pavilion dv3t battery, Hp NU089AA battery, Hp HSTNN-LB94 battery, Hp HSTNN-LB93 battery-hogging display. And a retina display would really be overkill for a 7.9".

If only all the apps for the iPad could run on a 1536x1152 (semi-retina) display without any app modification required and the battery charge time wasn't as bad as the iPad 3, the iPad Mini would be perfect... Yes, profit had something to do with the exclusion of a retina display,...but other factors weighed in more.

2. Google is all about ads. nuff said. Youtube used to be great... but now you gotta watch Ads before a video. This is one of the reasons why Apple kept Flash out... but now Google and other website have figured out a way to display Ads via html 5. Boohoo!

3. I import pictures from my flash drives, camera, camcorders, etc via the USB camera adapter. I also hook up MIDI guitars, keyboard, and other equipment. Works perfectly. Sure the adapter costs money, but it's better than having all these (unnecessary to most users) extra ports on the device. By offering an adapter, we get an aesthetically pleasing thinner device and the option to plug in USB devices when needed. There's an HDMI adapter but Airplay is less of a hassle. There are apps that stream content from the iPad to PS3, XBox, etc.

For Web coding, I use Textastic, which includes an FTP client and DropBox support. The best part is that it remembers where your files are online... So after making a change locally, you tap on update online and it automatically uploads to your FTP server. You can also overwrite your local copy by downloaded from your FTP server.
And the productivity list goes on...

iPad Mini can do that too if you choose to jailbreak it... so it's that the hardware can't handle it; it's just not a feature most people will use. Use a laptop if you want 10 windows open at the same time.

If Apple can include a retina display on the iPad Mini 2 without requiring longer battery charge time and without making the device heavier and thicker, then I'll upgrade for sure.
Otherwise, it would really defeat the purpose of having a Mini... I love the current size and weight...I'm selling off my iPad 3... I choose size and portability over a retina display.

Google is out to make as much money as it can, just like every capitalist entity out there. The only difference is that Google sells ads and your personal data, not hardware, so they can appear to act more charitable and benevolent in the marketing of tablets, because it doesn't affect their bottom line one bit.

Personally, given a choice between Apple and Google, I would prefer to park my data with Apple. At least I can be more certain that it stays within Apple. That's why I voluntarily upgraded to IOS6 knowing fully well maps would be problematic.

Well after taking advice from this forum I was able to revive my TP after the wife let it drain to 0% while still in CM9. Though I'm not exactly sure what fixed it. I tried various cables, touchstone, adapters, USB to PC for awhile. I even "taped" down the buttons thinking this would completely drain the battery and allow it to go back to the bootloader screen and thus exit CM9. Again, I was swinging for the fences here, don't know if this did any good. I tired

I had finally decided I would do the LiPo charger trick and when I got the HP completely disassembled, I thought I would try one more idea. I had remembered reading that some "circuitry or program error" was not allowing the TP to charge from a zero state while it was still in Android. So while it was all disassembled I plugged the microUSB into the port on the

system board, connected the two system boards that needed to be to allow the battery like Hp HSTNN-OB80 battery, Hp Mini 1100 battery, Hp HSTNN-IB99 battery, Hp 538334-001 battery, Hp Envy 13 battery, Hp Compaq Presario B1200 battery, Hp HSTNN-DB53 battery, Hp 447649-321 battery, Hp HSTNN-DB63 battery, HP KU528AA Battery, HP Mini 2140 Battery, HP HSTNN-CB087 Battery to charge. My theory was while absolutely everything else was unhooked, maybe the battery would charge. I have no idea where in the components the "circuitry or program error" lies, I was hoping it was still in the case and not on either of these two system boards (I don't know which chip is the memory or whatever). Anyways after 30 mins of "charging", I reassembled

the TP and it immediately showed the CM9 unlock screen, and 1% on the battery, my hopes was to be able to reboot into WebOS so I could do a proper charge (as I had read) but it died almost instantly. I then plugged in the Cylinder charger and got the "Battery warning/Lighting bolt icon", which I had never got in this issue, so I considered that to be some progress.

The user posted the photo above to a forum on Baidu (China's home-grown answer to Google), claiming that the device began smoking while plugged in and charging on its original factory charger. In the process, the guts of the tablet seem to have been totally torched.

To me -- and likely anyone else who has had the experience of ruining an electrically powered product thanks to the wildly unpredictable and sometimes surging electrical grids of other countries -- this sounds like an infrastructure fail. However, we have seen enough reports of malfunctioning, overheating, and even smoking device batteries to make this story plausible.

And if this anonymous user's story is to believed (let's be very clear -- there's no way to confirm it), Asus seems to think it's a plausible enough story. So much so it has reportedly offered to not only replace the Nexus 7, but also hook the user up with a free set of Google Glass.

This part of the story seems a little hard to swallow to me, but if it's true, I imagine Google doesn't want word to get out, lest we all start torching our Nexus tablets in the hope of scoring our own pair of Google specs.

And then finally, can you talk a little bit more about the penetration into mainstream front. You gave us an example with the $200 handset in China. What will it take to really increase that on your part? Is that a lower cost part or is it really just being driven by demand from customers?

It really is both at the end of the day, right. It's the high-end of volume, typically the costs come down and the price come down. The prices doesn't come down by itself. So cost and price will track each other and that's why the gross margin is still pretty healthy.

I think the other thing to point at it is, we don't just have one chip, as we're trying to put out, we have a number of different chips and they serve different segments of the market. One type are for high-end featured rich sort of a phone, accessory with battery such as Compaq 100680-001 Battery, Compaq PP2060 Battery, Compaq Presario 1400 Battery, Compaq Presario R3158 Battery, Compaq Presario 1700 Battery, Compaq Armada E500 Battery, Compaq EVO N100 battery, Compaq Evo N1020V battery, Compaq Evo N1000C battery, Compaq Evo N115 battery, HP Compaq nc6220 Ac Adapter, HP Pavilion dv1207us Ac Adapter, switch sort of a phone, and we have others which are suited and targeted for the mid-range. So we took both segments to the market.

I guess, my first question, maybe, I'll just follow-up similar track from last two guy here, maybe focusing on the first quarter thoughts here, product revenue is expected to be flat up. Can you give us a sense to your confidence in that, I mean, clearly, I guess it makes sense to some transitions here, but can you just relay your confidence in that? Is this coming from a small segment of your customer base? Is it purely mobile or do you expect any sort of unusual trends in CE as an example.

Well, I think as we mentioned CE, we do see lot of activity going on and we're pretty confident about the uptick in the CE starting from Q1. It's applicable over multi customers, that's not one customer, that's a lot of the Tier 1 TV manufacturers.

I guess, maybe on some more directly here, so it seems pretty clear based in your commentary that mobiles that you're expecting to be up in the first quarter. Is CE expected to be seasonally better as well or it's just purely mobile dynamic in the first quarter?

No. I think what I'd like to say specifically for Q1 is that CE will be higher than what the run rates that we've been saying in the past. That is the primary driver in Q1.

MHL into China, I guess more so on the phone side, but maybe more generally speaking if you'd like to. Can you give us a sense of how much of MHLs in the third quarter was from China and where do you expect that to go, maybe looking out into next year sometime?

You can go to our metrics page, where we highlighted the mix, but our China business has grown to over $23 million overall, and a good chunk of that growth has been around the mobile space. And we expect that to continue to grow, going forward. I mean, I think Camillo highlighted the number, the players that we have involved there, whether it's ZTE, Huawei and Xiaomi, those players are actually showing a lot of positive traction with the design wins we have in place. So we're expecting to see a lot of growth in the China market.

I guess, it's probably little bit too early to tell you Richard, but I think one thing can say, if you look at the China portion, and look at just the China total dollar revenue, the percentage of mobile within that number is dramatically increasing. I mean to a point where next year, it could be more than 70%, 80% of the China revenue, the mobile specifically. Now, that's how dramatic it is.

Maybe two last quick questions for me, I'll jump out of line. The competition for MHL discrete Parade announced the product several backs here. What impact do you expect them to have on your share? Where in the market do you expect them to be, any thoughts on them and potentially any other entrance?

I think if you've been tracking the MHL adopter list for the last year, you'll notice that there are a number of companies that joined in the last 12 to 18 months. And I think, I don't know exactly when, but for Parade I think what you've mentioned, they were one of those companies. It's an example of one of those companies that joined some times ago.
